You know... the highs and lows
... the good and the bad
... order and confusion
... days when you just want to throw in the towel.
I was reading the intro pages to the Radio Rhema, The Word For Today booklet, and it just sort of bounced at me, as it often does.
Andrew Fraser, the Chief Executive said...
Sometimes we get so busy in life that our peace and contentment are stolen away. It is often at these times that we are tempted to skip spending time with God and in the scriptures because we are too busy.
Jesus said that His purpose is to give us a rich and satisfying life. To be able to enjoy that satisfaction we need to make sure we have time to reflect on what is important and to spend time sifting through the things that fill our daily lives and focus on the things that really matter. He had quoted John 10:10 [from the New Living Translation] 'The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life'
Life's been a bit like that for me over the last few months and I've sure been tested and tried and at times felt like, 'when's it all going to end?'
But it does.
You suddenly wake one morning and discover a new day with new opportunities, direction and purpose.
Like having a new school book with fresh, crisp and clean pages and you want so much to write neatly in it and promise to yourself to keep it up....
I've had 'stuff' happen (I'll share some later) and at times it was only God and the prayers of others that got me through, but today I woke with a new desire to set the day to order. I started out well but later in the day I was doing a title page for a new journal I'm starting for a six month bible reading challenge and I ended up sleeping for four hours - a hint of what life's been like. But I could see some of the changes I had made already. And like an exercise book, I could rip out the page and start again or I could just turn to a new page and use it as a lesson.
Too often we set ourselves goals that are too hard to reach in our desire to make dramatic changes, when we really need to be gentle as the little things we change or improve all add up to the big goal in the end.
